Abby from LAFFkitchen knows that great food deserves great packaging. When she reached out to us, she wasn’t just looking for any pouch. She wanted something that really matched her brand’s values—local, animal-friendly, and made with care for both people and the planet.
A Small, Local Brand with Big Values
LAFFkitchen is a small woman-owned business based in Blacksburg Virginia. Abby and her husband Steve create plant-based protein crumbles called LAFF that work perfectly as a substitute for ground or shredded meat. Whether it’s tacos, pasta, wraps, or rice bowls, LAFF brings easy, fast, and tasty meals to the table with plenty of protein and a local touch.
The Challenge: Packaging That Didn't Match the Brand’s Values
As the brand grew, Abby realized her packaging needed to catch up. Her previous packaging wasn’t quite cutting it. Sometimes it didn’t keep the product as fresh as she wanted and it didn’t really represent the clean, local vibe she was going for. Plus, Abby wanted to offer something sustainable because that is core to her values.
Our Approach: Custom Sizing and Design for Perfect Packaging
That’s where we stepped in to help. First, we addressed Abby’s product sizing challenge by sending her samples to test and make sure the pouch size was just right for the amount of LAFF she packages. At the same time, we helped Abby fit her logo, nutrition facts, and product description on the pouch artwork so everything looked clear and professional.
Material Selection: Balancing Freshness, Sustainability, and Style
We also explored different materials together, considering freshness, shelf life, recyclability, and how the packaging would feel in customers’ hands. Since LAFF’s seitan product stays good for about seven days refrigerated and three to six months frozen, it was important that the pouch worked well in both the fridge and freezer. We made sure to offer freeze-safe options that kept the product fresh without compromising sustainability. Abby chose our recyclable matte white stand-up pouch that ticks all her boxes—freshness, sustainability, and style.
Final Result: Eye-Catching, Sustainable Packaging That Stands Out
Abby shared the new packaging on Instagram with her pup Rose by her side, and it really felt like a perfect match. The pouch stands up well at farmers markets and stores. It is easy to handle and tells the story of LAFFkitchen in a way that fits the brand perfectly.
We love helping brands like LAFFkitchen find packaging that supports their mission and helps them shine. For Abby, it wasn’t just about buying a bag. It was about finding a partner who understands her vision and values. We’re excited to be part of her journey and look forward to what comes next.
