Challenge:

New Harvest Coffee wanted to replace its traditional black kraft coffee bags with a packaging solution that improved sustainability, reduced costs, and created a more distinctive premium appearance on retail shelves.

Solution:

Enviro Flex Pack helped the brand transition to a fully recyclable High Barrier Duplex White PE Laminate pouch and collaborated on a complete packaging redesign featuring a wider format, sustainability messaging, and premium matte-and-gloss finishes.

Results:

The new packaging elevated shelf presence, strengthened the brand's sustainability story, and delivered the premium look New Harvest was seeking. The success of the project has led to multiple repeat orders and an ongoing partnership.

The Challenge: Rethinking a Classic

New Harvest Coffee’s original packaging, a black kraft custom-printed block bottom pouch, was functional and familiar. But as the brand grew, they sought a solution that checked three critical boxes: cost efficiencysustainability, and a more distinctive, premium shelf presence. They wanted to move away from the conventional without compromising on quality or freshness.

The Search: Finding the Right Material & Form

The New Harvest team reached out to us seeking a more sustainable and economical alternative. We began by sending samples of various materials, sizes, and finishes. After careful evaluation, they selected our High Barrier Duplex White PE Laminate with a matte finish—a fully recyclable 12oz block bottom pouch featuring a pocket zipper and degassing valve.

Beyond the material, they chose a wider pouch format—a unique shape that offers a more substantial, premium feel and stands out beautifully on retail shelves.

The Collaboration: Redesigning with Purpose

Choosing the new material inspired a complete design refresh. We collaborated closely with the New Harvest team, offering guidance on incorporating recyclable icons and sustainability messaging to clearly communicate the packaging's eco-friendly attributes to their customers.

The new design was a bold evolution. Moving from a dark black base, they embraced a brighter, more detailed canvas that allowed their brand personality to shine. To make it truly exceptional, we recommended a matte finish with a spot gloss application on the distinctive orange-red side patterns. This contrast created a sophisticated, tactile experience: the matte surface provides a soft, premium backdrop, while the gloss highlights the brand's unique visual signature, making it pop.

The Result: A Standout Success

The finished pouches exceeded expectations. The clean, white duplex PE laminate provided the perfect foundation for New Harvest’s revamped design, making the colors more vivid and the details crisp. The wider format, combined with the matte-and-gloss finish, gave the packaging a high-end, artisanal feel that truly reflects the quality of the coffee inside.

The partnership has been so successful that New Harvest has already reordered the same bag twice, confirming the packaging’s performance, appeal, and alignment with their brand values.
